Free-Staters Dr. Charles Robinson and Charles Branscomb, both members of the New England Emigrant Aid Company, help found the town of Lawrence, Kansas. They name the town after Amos A. Lawrence, the company's treasurer. Lawrence becomes a bastion of the Free-State cause in Kansas.
