South Weymouth, Fri eve [] Dear Mother

I arrived here this afternoon about 4 o’clock. Doctor and Aunt Howe are well but the children have been sick with Dysentery and are not well yet. Florinda says she has hardly been out of the house since you was here; she does not look very well.

I forgot one or two things that I ought to have told you before I left.

John must go to Barnards as soon as you get this and get the stock for three pairs of boots that he said he would have ready Sat. and carry one pair of them to Baker and have him make them for me. He has got the measure of my foot and said he would make them the early part of the week so John must get them there as soon as possible. If Father has done anything about it since I was there very well; if not have this done without delay.

I want you to be ready to go to Worcester with me next Fri. if I should not get home Thursday night for I did not get half the things I wanted in Boston. I got some Hd’k’f’s and told Aunt Louisa to send them home by Father Sat. if she had a chance so that you could hem them before I get home.

The Teacher of the High School here boards with Doctor and he has four other men. When I told him first that I was going to Kansas he said I ought to have a straight Jacket On (fine Anti-Slavery man that) and so I told him.

I find that the money that has been put into the bank here for me or given to the Doctor for that purpose amounts to between 11 & 12$ and there is interest on some of it since 1844 so there ought to be as much as 15,00 I should think, that will help me some. I shall go from here tomorrow afternoon and I cannot tell exactly what time I shall be at home. Tell John to keep things going as fast as possible.

Doctor and I are just going to the Bank. I have seen Mrs. William Torrey and Capt. Torreys folks. They all send much love to you as do Aunt Howe and Florinda.

I can’t think of any more that I must write and so I will stop.

Your affectionate son, E.P. Fitch
